Targets do not need to have any artistic skills to join the expressive arts therapy. It is suitable for people of different ages, identities, education levels, culture, abilities, etc. From birth to death, from shallow to deep contents, expressive arts therapy covers everyone's needs. The targets do not necessarily have to be "sick" to receive services. They can come to relax or improve their self-awareness. Anyone is suitable to to receive expressive arts therapy services.
Therapists often hear:
"I've never imagined that I can do it."
“This is my first time to draw.”
"I don't know how to do! But I'll try to follow you and I can do it."
"I've never seen him/her participate so actively." (Social worker/teacher/family member)
"I facilitated a similar one before but they weren't so engaging like this." (Social Worker/Teacher)
The situation of each person and group combination is different. The therapist will set treatment goals and design the process of individual cases and groups according to the needs and abilities of the targets. In the process, the therapist will walk with the service targets step by step, facilitating them to express more, reflect more and contain more through art.
